Dozens of schools in Southern California – public, independent and parochial – have been drawn to the power of the practice of Council and have experienced its profound impact on their team and their campus. School communities become more cohesive and compassionate, stakeholders engage more deeply, staff develop a greater sense of connection, and students feel seen and valued, leading to a more meaningful and powerful educational experience.
Council practice offers an opportunity for educators, administrators and stakeholders, as well as students, to explore our profound interconnectedness through a dialogic practice that values every voice and reinforces respectful communication, authentic presence, and collective wisdom. Council provides a dynamic platform for development of creative school curricula, instructional strategies, support services and restorative justice practices. Center for Council believes that the first step in the integration of Council into a school environment is to learn and integrate the practice of Council into staff culture and offers a variety of staff workshops and trainings to support that.
