Circles of Resilience practices embody both ancient and modern wisdom about how to keep human relationships alive, open, and constructive, especially when conflicts arise. How we deal with conflict, or not, impacts the quality of our lives. While not being therapy, sharing in a group helps transform triggers into compassion. * Use grounding practices to enhance resilience and prepare for challenging conversations. * Somatic presencing to heal conflict in the body. * Making conscious the archetypal forces at work in conflict. In this course we learn ways to approach conflict while staying connected Please visit Circles of Resilience for more information. |
Facilitator Path Accelerator
Venice, CA
Are you council-trained and wondering what to do with it? Do you get tongue-tied when discussing council with friends and family? Are you part of a group that could really use council? Do you need practice before offering council in your neighborhood, at your kids' school, with your partner? This may be the right time to jump onto The Facilitator Path Accelerator. This new offering is designed to accelerate your confidence and skill to generate more circles - for connection, for contemplation, for support, for action, for understanding. Each month, on the second Thursday, we will pair you with one other to plan, set up, facilitate, close and debrief the Drop In Council that has convened in Venice for the past fifteen years. In a safe environment, and with guidance from the circle and veteran trainers, you'll develop the readiness to bring your own circles into being. From time to time, appropriate handouts will be provided. Whether you want to start a book club or a knitting circle, a men's group or a social justice organizing team, this is a way to build the muscle so that the council training you did isn't gathering dust on a shelf in your mind!
There is a suggested donation for one year of tuition and practice. Nobody is turned away due to lack of funds. Participants must have taken "Council 1: An Introduction to Council" or an equivalent circle practice training. Required reading: Jack Zimmerman and Virginia Coyle's "The Way of Council."
Contact Kate Lipkis for more details or to sign up.

Year on the Wheel Council Group, Co-ed Circle
Venice, CA
Once a month, 7-9pm
What does it mean to connect one’s life – body and emotion, psyche and intuition, planning and principles, imagination and spirituality - to the properties, qualities, personalities and lessons of the four shields of human nature? Using the shields, the directions, the medicine wheel – whatever your name is for it – we spend time each month looking at how they’re working us, what we can learn from them about ourselves and others, and how a new, yet very old perspective can be a compass point, a framework that can help make sense of our individual and collective journeys.
Each group meets one weeknight per month, with one medicine walk each season held on a weekend day. There is a suggested donation for the 12-session series and nobody is turned away due to lack of funds.
Please contact Kate Lipkis for information on when the next “Year on the Wheel” begins.
