Center for Council and Community Partners
Center for Council is a small but rapidly growing organization that offers Council-based programs and trainings that promote communication, enhance well-being, build community and foster compassion within the criminal and social justice fields. Council is a mindfulness-based practice derived from many ancient forms of communicating in a circle. Council engenders deep listening without judgment, fosters an atmosphere of respect for ourselves and for others, promotes empathy, dissolves barriers to cooperation, and builds understanding and community. Center for Council’s work is focused on inflection points throughout the social justice continuum; the organization offers programs in schools, prisons, law enforcement agencies, and community based organizations, and trainings for groups and individuals from all professions and walks of life.
Center for Council is fiscally sponsored by Community Partners. The organization is five years old and has grown tremendously in that time. We are now looking for an extreme self-starter who can hit the ground running to help us get to the next level. With enormous public attention on reforming the criminal justice system, our organization is poised for accelerated growth and program expansion; implementing a development strategy that taps the current momentum will be exciting and fast-paced.
