vision |
We envision a world in which every voice is heard, no one is invisible, and everyone has the opportunity to connect to community.

mission |
Center for Council delivers programs and trainings for adults and youth that promote communication, enhance well-being, build community, and foster compassion.
|
Our work enables individuals to cultivate tools for improved communication, find common ground with others and create healthy, compassionate and thriving communities. Council fosters recognition of our shared humanity and interconnectedness and enables individuals to give voice to their stories, to develop mutual respect and compassion for others, to cultivate a wholesome response to challenges and stress and to strengthen wellbeing and resilience in themselves and beyond. We like to call it the “ripple effect."

about council
Council is at the core of all of our programs. It represents an amalgam of teachings, wisdom traditions and schools of thought from around the globe, blended with science-based mindfulness practices and modern communication techniques developed over several decades. Council offers skillful means for building bridges and developing connection in an increasingly divided world, a tool that can and should be available to all people of all walks of life.
We honor the lineages and traditions, both ancient and modern, that have influenced and informed the practice of council and the many teachers who have developed and offered these teachings over time. We also recognize that many communities and peoples have suffered and continue to suffer as a result of colonization, violence, and exploitation. Our programs do not condone the use of any language, symbols, objects, or rituals misappropriated from their cultural or spiritual context at the expense of the communities from which these elements originate. We honor the experiences of marginalized peoples, and work to hold space for all people to be empowered and connected in community.
