The following information is an addendum to the process laid out in the “Path to Becoming a Council Trainer,” which can be found here. Please refer to that page for Center for Council’s approach to trainer certification, and its training protocols. The components described here are intended to support development, mastery and demonstration of the “core competencies” required of a Certified Council Trainer. Please familiarize yourself with those core competencies.
When the path is undertaken as part of participation in a cohort-based program (like the Trainer Leadership Initiative), components are rigorously organized and managed on behalf of the cohort by Center for Council (C4C) staff. When an individual elects to enter the path to becoming a council trainer without participating in a cohort-based program, the process must be imagined, designed, tailored, and approved for that individual. This may be accomplished in collaboration with C4C program staff, a Senior Council Trainer serving as a “Sponsor Mentor,” and the C4C Mentor Circle.
In order for this Independent Course of Study to satisfy requirements for certification as a council trainer by the C4C Mentor Circle, it must contain the following elements:
In envisioning and designing an Independent Course of Study, consideration must be made for the associated costs of participation in workshops and other professional development opportunities, and the time and services of Sponsor Mentor, Mentor Circle and C4C staff.
Please contact us for more information on beginning an Independent Course of Study, including the process for engaging a Sponsor Mentor and designing and costing out this process.
